Home Health Nurse, 2.5 years with Androscoggin Home Healthcare + Hospice
Before joining Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice (Androscoggin) a little over two years ago, I mostly worked with geriatric patients, but had worked with diabetic pediatrics patients as well. I joined Androscoggin because I was looking for a change in my workplace environment. I wanted to be able to sit and actually have a real conversation with patients and families without being constantly rushed.
I love it here! It’s just amazing how we are all treated. There’s a lot of recognition that I don’t think a lot of nurses ever hear about in other areas, and you get a lot of thanks for seeing or doing something extra. I have learned more since working here than I can ever remember. (I never even knew about Pleurex catheters before starting here!) There is not a day that goes by that I don’t feel supported. There’s always someone there to talk to after a hard experience. It’s just something unexplainable because I’ve never experienced it before coming here. They treat you like family. And, best of all, I get to be a mom again; I get to have a life again. Because of my flexible schedule I can go to appointments and practices and games and still give quality care to my patients.
