National Healthcare at Home 2021 Best Practices and Future Insights Study

From Berry Dunn:

In an effort to help the healthcare at home industry both manage and provide quality outcome-driven care in the new healthcare environment, BerryDunn’s healthcare consulting division has partnered with the National Association for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC), National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), NAHC Forum of State Associations, LeadingAge, Home Care Association of America (HCAOA), Council of State Home Care and Hospice Associations, and HealthPivots to launch the National Healthcare at Home 2021 Best Practices and Future Insights Study. The national study is designed to provide agency leaders with clinical and operational best practices performed by leading organizations across the country.

“We are excited to announce the return of best practice research to the industry,” said Brad Borbidge, CPA, Principal at BerryDunn. “The purpose of this study is to continue the involvement and commitment to research in the healthcare-at-home industry because we believe home-based care is the future of healthcare and we want to be part of helping the industry grow.”

Phase II will involve an in-depth online survey with nearly 1,000 agency leaders. The final phase will include distribution of free national data and reports as well as presentations at national and state conferences.

Study Co-Chairs Lindsay Doak, Project Lead at BerryDunn and Keith Crownover, President at Delta Health Technologies will work with a National Steering Committee of industry experts across the country to ensure the study covers topic areas and questions of most importance to the industry.

While the study is not offering paid sponsorships, Delta has volunteered Crownover’s time and prior study experience to benefit the research project, which he feels is critically needed in the industry. “The healthcare at home industry is changing at an unprecedented rate.  Last year we faced two of our biggest challenges, COVID-19 and Patient-Driven Groupings Model (PDGM),” said Crownover. “These two things not only brought the benefit of industry disruption to our industry, but they forced the entire healthcare setting to redefine itself. We need best-practice research to help guide agencies as they continue to maneuver through unprecedented times.”

“Of equal importance is ensuring that this national effort drives to bring the entire industry together,” added Doak, who has worked on similar projects in the past. This starts by bringing the leaders of our largest national and state associations and agency leaders together in a collective effort to provide agency research and best practices to providers. By working together, we can dramatically impact more agencies and ultimately, improve patient care across the country.
